Zen Shiatsu Ampuku
The Ampuku (or Anpuku) is an ancient diagnostic and treatment technique originating in Japan, and one of the predecessors of Shiatsu.
Ampuku means to take care of the Hara.
Hara in Japanese literally means Abdomen.
It may refer to the entire abdominal area, or more specifically, to the area below the navel, where the Chinese locate the lower Tan Tien, or Dān Tián.
> For the Japanese, the Hara is the most important energy center in the human body,
is the origin of Ki, the life force, and this is present in a very deep and ingrained way in their culture, from ancient spiritual practices to martial arts.
Each action or gesture becomes more precise, effective and conscious when it is performed by the Hara and Attention.
Shizuto Masunaga (1925-1981), one of the founding fathers of Shiatsu, after researching ancient manuscripts, considered the Hara as the origin of all Meridians when developing his theory of Zen Shiatsu.
Thus he defined the Hara as an area of both diagnosis and treatment.
>> Ampukutherapy is specific to Zen Shiatsu and serves to evaluate and treat the state of each of the 12 main meridians of the body, classifying them in kyo states (void, need) or jitsu (fullness, excess).
It is considered that, through the abdomen, we can act energetically and physilologically throughout the body.
> Today science confirms what Ancient Medicines already knew:
The abdomen has a large number of neurotransmitters, which is why it has been called the Second Brain or Enteric Nervous System.
The Central Nervous System is in permanent interaction with the
Gastrointestinal System.
This means that intestinal disorders can produce an effect on the Brain, our thoughts, our emotions and our moods.
After these considerations, we can deduce that the Ampukutherapy will have
a positive effect on the entire organism.
